The review about this product
Just received my FreeTalk Connect adapter. Setup was painless and the product seems to work as advertised/expected with one exception. Buried on the FreeTalk product website is a FAQ entry that states Caller ID is not currently supported. Are you KIDDING ME! What are they taking us back to the 1980's? I thought I reviewed this product thoroughly before purchasing, but apparently missed this very important fact.
I view support for incoming caller ID as essential and am miffed that such a mundane feature is not supported by this device.
From what I can tell, if you have purchased a Skype online number, then that number will be displayed to the people you call on their end. However, the caller ID information for incoming calls (whether originating from Skype, or from your Landline) does not pass through the Freetalk device and hence will NOT be displayed on your phone. This is simply unacceptable, and I will be looking to return this product if there is no indication from the manufacturer that they will be adding this very soon via a firmware update.
Despite it's other virtues, I cannot in good conscience rate this product higher than one star with such a glaring feature omission.
