The review about this product
I had to do a lot of digging when I was looking to buy this Computer Calling Kit from Polycom. There are 2 of them and this is the one for the SoundStation2 expandable. I got mine from AZ Geek Store.
The price is a little steep on these, but it isn't just that it has Polycom molded into the cable. I put an ohmmeter on it and there is a bit more going on internally than you would think (I wasn't getting a clean uncomplicated pin to pin). The other part is that the 2.5mm jack on the SoundStation2 is recessed, and too many 2.5mm plugs have way too much excess material around them that would prevent them from being properly seated in the jack on your SoundStation2.
Creating cables to attach the SoundStation2 expandable to a cell phone (as a headset) is a bit more straightforward after you find the right connectors and pinout. You will need to make two of them to cover most phones that have 3.5mm jacks. One covers the iPhone (and a variety of others, including some HTCs as I recall), the other variation covers most of the rest. You would think that you could divide between iPhone and Android, but you would be wrong, and some manufacturers can't even be consistent, varying from model to model. The difference is swapping the microphone and ground connectors and there is no possibility of creating a universal cable (that isn't a multi-headed monstrosity).
The following is excerpted from a PDF I found on Polycom's website.
