I have used a couple of headsets that were manufactured by a company starting with P. The other headsets for the P company ( double the price ) always had much static and the range was very short - ie don't put the phone in the left pocket if you have the headset on the right ear.
The Motorola HX550 has very good range, very clear voice communications - receiving and sending, and no static. Having to flip the microphone to turn on or off takes a bit of getting used to, and I have to flip the microphone on before I put in on my ear. I found it almost impossible to flip if it is sitting on my ear. However, that is a very minor inconvenience. Knowing the the headset is definitely on or off makes up for that inconvenience.
I personally found that the earbuds that come with the set were very comfortable and secure - far more secure than the ones sold with other headsets I have used in the past.
Oh, and the noise cancellation is quite amazing! I was talking to my sister while running water in a kitchen sink - she did not hear the water at all. A couple of hours later, a low flying jet passed overhead and it made soooo much noise that I could hardly hear her talk - but she heard me loud and clear without any noise from the jet.
It takes a fair amount to impress me - but I am very impressed with the Motorola HX550. I would definitely recommend this headset to a friend or family member.
