GREAT PHONE!!!

The review about this product

I couldn't be happier. I just upgraded from a 2.4Ghz phone system and I am sure glad I did. The voice quality is much improved. I hadn't realized how much better until I started using it. Maybe it's because this phone system eliminates WiFi Interference. The range is great. I can use any handset with the base in the living room all the way to the garage. I can't comment on Caller ID and Call Waiting features because we don't subscribe to them.

Pros:
- Very Easy Set-Up
- Only One, Single Line, Phone Jack Required to run all 5 phones
- Speakerphone
- Conference Calling (with only up to 3 handsets)
- Privacy feature so an incomming call can not be interrupted by another handset
- You can screen incomming calls from any handset
- You can listen to recorded messages from any handset
- Global set-up from any handset including the answering machine
- You can name each handset
- Lighted Keypad
- Phone Book can be setup separate for each handset or Global
- Many, Many other positive features
- Message counter on each LED screen

CONS: (Not A Deal Breaker)
- No Keypad on base
- Wall Mount Not Included
- Red Charge Light on every cradle & base is Very Bright (in a dark room)
- Charging Cradles are very light weight and therefore move around a lot

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PHONE SYSTEM!!!!

Its a review about this product

I have tried probably a dozen different voip solutions and we now have basically the holy grail:

1) You don't need special phones -- you can hook up your analog cordless phones (Panasonic DECT 6.0 models are usually great).
2) Service through Google Voice is free and relatively high quality -- comparable in reliability and sound quality to Skype I'd say.
3) The Obihai device really is easy to configure.
4) The device JUST WORKS. You connect it to your router and forget about it. Never need to reboot -- nothing.
5) You don't need a super broadband connection -- your run of the mill cable internet or DSL will do.

As people find out about it, this device and Google Voice is really trouble for the relatively expensive voip services like Vonage and Lingo that give you an adapter but cost $20-$30 a month. A few years ago $30 a month for unlimited phone service was a godsend; now, compared to FREE, it's kind of pricey.

There are two catches. Google Voice will not give you 911 service so you should have a secondary phone for emergencies -- which can be your cell phone. Also, we don't know whether Google Voice will stay free. But I'm pretty confident that even if Google starts charging, it will be something nominal.

Its a review about this product

Most of the recent documentation I found about this unit indicated that the optional cable required to use this unit as a microphone and speaker for a computer (for instance, for video conferencing) was included. It wasn't. It was difficult to find, too- finally found it through a few sellers back here on Amazon (you're looking for the "Computer Calling Kit for Sound STATION2 with LCD & Voicestation 500", which is part number 2200-17240-002. If you see a calling kit that ends in part number 001, it's the wrong one. I'm not sure what cable you'd have to purchase to actually connect to a cell phone like it's designed to use that plug for, but nobody local had that, either.

HOWEVER, other than that issue, the unit is FANTASTIC. I stood in the far corner of the room (out of the advertised radius) and spoke in a lowered voice, and the person at the other end said it sounded like I was holding a handset. Now, the room was empty and silent except for me, but still...I was impressed. The speaker is plenty loud, and the way the cables hook up is absolutely ideal. I couldn't find information about that ahead of time, and was expecting to have to run all the cables back and forth from the wall. Instead, I was pleased to find that a single cable runs from the giant transformer box plugged directly into the receptacle, to the unit. The telephone cable then runs from the phone plug in the wall, to another port on the transformer box. All the voice and power then run together over to the unit through the single cable. I do wish that the "Computer Calling Kit" cable could hook up at the transformer as well, but alas- I will have to run it all the way from the unit.

I absolutely recommend this unit- the sound is fantastic, and the operation logical for the end users.

Reviews About Losing America: Confronting a Reckless and Arrogant Presidency (Hardcover)

Its a review about this product

Senator Byrd is a statesman in an era of partisan politics. No one in our government has a greater love of the U.S. Constitution, and no one has done a better job than Senator Byrd in this book of describing how the Bush Administration has circumvented the role of Congress with the support of the Republican leadership in the House and Senate.

Contrary to the President's claim that Congress "had access to the same intelligence that I had" before giving him legislative support to go to war with Iraq, Byrd's detailed account demonstrates that the White House kept Congress in the dark and forced a rushed vote using every real and artificial pressure it could muster.

Byrd, a student of history - and a man whose experience extends back 45 years in the Senate - contrasts the White House's secret and manipulative behavior with that of past administrations, and echoes the feelings of many that the war in Iraq has actually hurt our ability to find and fight terrorists. Equally alarming is Byrd's recounting of his numerous attempts to increase the funding for homeland security, every one of which has been rejected by the White House.

Byrd summarizes the Bush strategy for getting public support for his war by quoting Hermann Goering: "...the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."

The review about this product

GREAT phone. I LOVE this phone. I was a bit apprehensive on the shape (it looked tall and skinny from the photo) but I tell you it is so comfortable to use and to hold on to. It is a just right shape for my liking. It has a great speaker phone quality that everyone says they cannot tell the difference when I use it. I ordered two more to piggy back my first phone and I am very happy with all of them. They have made me quit dreading to talk on the phone. Love it!!!

The review about this product

Options for 4-line cordless phones that are expandable to at least 8 handsets are limited. Being able to control which handsets ring with an outside call, and yet have them all ring for an internal call leaves you with AT&T or Panasonic. My original Panasonic system did it's job, but did not hold up well in a business environment. The AT&T SB67118 can handle more handsets, has greater range, clearer reception, and feels and looks more substantial. Set-up was easy for my 9 handsets, and even though it's only been a month, I've had NO problems.

The review about this product

Phone Caller ID feature is defective. Installing the batteries in the phone makes the LCD show a text "NO CALLS", then connecting the phone line to the phone and caling it from my cell phone DOES NOT change this text to any other one (caller ID is not shown, I do have caller ID service). I tried disconnecting the phone from the line and reinserting batteries, then reconnecting line, no change. Then connecting the line first then batteries, no change either.

This does not mean the phone design is faulty but I will not take a chance with this phone if is defective from factory.I dont want a replacement I will buy another brand, maybe more expensive but worth the money.

Costumer service from seller was good regarding return.

The review about this product

I bought this bluetooth earpiece to use with an iPhone 3Gs while on a business trip and have been very impressed! Setup was truly a snap, taking about a minute to complete by just following the directions included. Unlike many other earpieces I've owned, this one links up every time I turn it on without fail, and does so very quickly. The in ear voice prompts to let you know the status of the earpiece (charge, connection, etc.) are very nice and compliment the on screen battery life indicator. I used this earpiece with the MapQuest navigation app on my iPhone for directions and found that it worked very well for that also. Making calls was simple, and everyone I spoke to said the voice quality was excellent, even when I was driving on rough roads or working outside in a windy environment. The earpiece fully charges in under two hours, and holds its charge for a very long period of time. I have been using it intermittently for over a week now and have only charged it one time. Finally, putting it on and off is easy, and I found that this is the ONLY earpiece that I could comfortably wear for hours at a time without my ear becoming irritated! This is the primary reason I ditched many of my previous headsets (Jabra, Jawbone, etc. You may have to adjust it around a bit to find the optimal position for your ear, but once you do, it stays put and is very comfortable. Overall, this is an exceptional value for the money and I would recommend it to anyone in need of a good, basic bluetooth earpiece.

A Gentle Reminder to SLOW DOWN

The review about this product

As someone who is not yet married but lives in her parents' hurried home, I appreciated that so much of the text was geared toward changing your mind and heart, not just your habits. Example: a forgiving spirit will allow you to let go and let God rather than hold grudges that are unproductive and hurtful. That's a much more helpful reminder than some formulaic apology sequence that might lurk behind the cover of other self-help books.

The review about this product

The Pot Thief Who Studied Pythagoras by J. Michael Orenduff

I can't be too effusive in my praise of Mike Orenduff's POT THIEF series. You could start anywhere in the series, or you can begin with the first one and work your way to this one, because each book stands on its own. The books are a mix of lore with intellectual analysis. The plots make sense and are not derivative of anything else. This story is set (in part) in a lodge where snowbound ski bunnies are being knocked off. I guess it reminds me a little of when Lucy and Ricky and Fred and Ethel were snowed in . . . or when Jack Tripper got snowed in . . . or any locked-in mystery like "Murder by Death." A classic "Murder, She Wrote" type of thing where the phone lines are down and there's no way in or out, so Hubie has to find the killer before it catches him off guard.

His is not the usual flat, plain, no-style writing that you get in so many best-sellers. You'll think you're reading dialogue from Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, Rock Hudson and Doris Day, Cary Grant and anyone else--it's that funny. You'll learn stuff despite yourself because of the broad range of topics touched upon.

He wins a lot of awards, and this is the ziilionth book in the series, so you're in for a treat! It costs less than a dinner out (or even take-out Tex-Mex, at least in the quantities my husband consumes it) and will last. The book is sturdy and good-looking, a nice addition to my "Keepers" shelf. Buy this book now.

Recommended.

This is my first smart phone and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! It is easy to use and I love how it sync's my contacts with my gmail account. No more worrying about losing contacts when you change phones! I also am able to access my work email about and all of the contacts in my outlook. However, it is still separate from my personal account. I like that I can also used google voice to send free texts, rather than paying the $20 a month for an at&t texting plan. I actually like the size of the phone, I do not think it is too big. The battery lasts all day. I can check email throughout my day and still listen to Pandora at the gym. A few my coworkers have switched from the iphone to the S4 after I showed them all the cool things it can do!

True review after real use

The review about this product

So I have been using these for over 2 weeks now, and have finally decided to give my review. I'm writing this as unbiased as possible and will try to hit the main points "featured" with this product.

Comfort: Everyone talks about how comfortable these are, but many may be disappointed. True, they are very lightweight and do not produce much pressure anywhere, except for one place. This happens to be right where the plastic rests on top of the ear. For some reason, Logitech did not extend the silicon to that portion, so it is just plastic resting on top of the ear. This happens only with movement however, as the headset will creep down onto your ear and push slightly harder. Then again, who doesn't move their head while on their computer or console, especially for gaming.

Sound: The sound is fairly impressive, although they are open headphones so don't expect it to be as great as the closed, noise canceling headsets that are $100+. As for the difference between connecting through 3.5mm jacks or USB, there is a difference. Others have said there is no difference, but a quick search will tell you how they are better through USB. Basically, they produce better highs and lows, which I found to be true as well. As an example, I listened to JasonYangViolin on youtube, his FF13 Cover, and immediately could distinguish a difference between the drums hitting the low. Through the 3.5mm jacks, the bass is not that great, but the USB provides a nice extra boost and you get a little kick. If you wanted to test this, just try any song that features some nice bass in it and listen through both connections, you will notice a difference.

Microphone: With the nice rotating and flexible mic, it does not get in my way at all. I Skype with my girlfriend and asked her to tell me which sounded better, my old Plantronics behind-the-neck headset or this new one. She said there was a significant difference between quality, although I can't say much because the headset is 5+ years old. She said I sounded much more clear and crisp, which was good to know. I also use it for PC and PS3 gaming, and haven't had one complaint about someone not hearing me, so I assume it's great.

Functionality: Being that they come with a USB connector, the ability to go 3.5mm or USB is a great bonus. It has a simple Velcro strap that can hold excess wire if you're close to your computer/laptop like me. It also has the in-line volume control and mic mute. Nothing great about it, but nice to be able to mute the mic without having to use the computer. The build also seems very durable as others have said. Very flexible, but rigid where it needs to be to give it support. Adjustable back part is nice, but seems like they made it for HUGE heads! I have a fairly large head (7 and 3/8 hat size), and I only extend it about 6 clicks over the 20 or so total. One great feature, however, is the ability for the actual speaker part to flex in all directions. This places the speaker at the best position to give you maximum quality sound.

Overall: I gave it a 4/5 because of it's versatility as both a mobile headset (LOL at this... is it really much harder to bring ANY headset?) and it's ability to be used by many different machines (3.5mm jack or USB for computers and consoles). The only reason it is missing a star is because of the comfort issue. Although you will not notice it at first, your ears will remind you when you take them off 1+ hour later. It's not a deal breaker, as I'm sure I will get used to them, but it also isn't too painful that you're going to be distracted while using them.

The review about this product

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The author really doesn't tell me anything new about political conservatism, but he does bring a myriad of issues together under one cover. Smith's writing style is entertaining and enlightening. For people with more of a leaning to the left, this title shouldn't be seen as a piece of trash or propaganda, but as an informative description of the positions of the political right. Although I admit to being a political conservative, I'd enjoy reading a similar volume summarizing the views of the political left!

Among the many politically right-leaning books on the market today, this one is a must-read!

Great Product The Continuing Conversion of the Church (Gospel & Our Culture) (Paperback)

%product_name

The review about this product

This is certainly a profound, well written work. One can tell that Guder has thought long and hard on this, and has reflected as well on many others' reflection. Here he presents the case against the Western Christian church which he feels has succumbed to gosepl reductionism. By this, he means when Christians reduce the gospel in all its fulness and mission to a controllable, manageable level. Pertinent to this understanding is this quote: "We are constantly tempted to assert that our way of understanding the Christian faith is a final version of Christian truth."He resonates to the freeflowing tension always seeking to move Christianity along unknown paths, ever broadening and deepening its hold on humanity. Reductionism as he defines it severly restricts it as it diminshes what for him is vital and called its "incarantional witness." Here he refers to God's grace reaching out in a Christian's call and vocation. He appears to drift back and forth from orthodoxy to something far from it, especially evidenced by his continued reference to ecumenism as being important and vital element in the repentance and continual conversion needed by Christianity. Although he speaks at length passionately about Jesus and the cross, he severely reproves the church for focus on salvation of individuals.By continual conversion he refers to a rather liquid, dynamic movement in Christianity without boundaries, yet constantly refining what institution is already there. When Chrisitans becomed concerned about maintenance, then mission is lost. Continual conversion refers to this movement back to mission. In many cases on many ecclesial and theological issues, he advocates a moderate position, but this only appears to be one mitigated by his resolve to movement from within existing ecclessiastic structures, rather than disbandonment and new ventures. There is much to be contemplated in this writing that is worthwhile to reflect on even if one is not of the author's theological posture or without accepting his proposed remedies. Although careful to provide definitions, what is omitted from them and what is taken back at places where one felt good was given must be carefully discerned.

Great Product Some Like It Hot (DVD)

The review about this product

Some Like It Hot [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) My review is not about the movie itself, which is a great classic comedy that everyone should see and own. Rather, I want to comment on the Blu-ray itself, which is a big disappointment.

When the disc is loaded into the player it does not offer a Pop-Up Menu and the movie begins after all the usual disclaimers, which is not a bad thing. But this turns out to be an issue later. Stay tuned....

Prior to the purchase of this Blu-ray I owned the 2-disc Collector's Edition which had a great quality picture and great special features. I read on Blu-ray.com that the Blu-ray was highly rated in terms of picture quality and sound. So, to my regret, I sold my DVD set to a friend and bought the Blu-ray.....BIG MISTAKE! Apparently sometimes when an older movie is given the High Definition treatment it brings out details and flaws as well. To my eyes the DVD I owned had a superior picture. The Blu-ray reveals more grain and in some scenes a rather odd checkerboard background, especially in dark areas. Some may call this pixilation; whatever it is called, it's annoying and distracting. In the scene when the girls arrive at the Florida resort, there is a definite picture breakup that occurs on the left side of the screen. It is reminiscent of how a film appears as it is about to reach the end of a spool in a projector..I am not kidding.

What about that Pop-Up Menu? Yeah, where is it? It doesn't appear at the beginning or the end of the film. Oh it's there alright, but you need some tricky maneuvering to find it. To say the least, this is a terrible Menu design flaw. When you finally get to the Menu there are some nice extras. These extras are on disc 2 of the DVD Collectors Edition.

In conclusion, I did not expect perfection in this Blu-ray and would have been very happy with just a slight improvement over my DVD. However, this Blu-ray took three steps backward. I am now ordering the 2-disc Collector's Edition on DVD....AGAIN!!! This is something that I never felt necessary to do with any of my other Blu-ray purchases. You've been warned. If you have the movie on DVD, KEEP IT....do not upgrade!

The review about this product

Panasonic KX-TG4022N DECT 6.0 PLUS Expandable Digital Cordless Phone with Answering System, Champagne Gold, 2 Handsets (Office Product) I already own an earlier version of this wireless -- the KX-TG1032. Wanted another set to give to a relative. Amazon showed that there is a newer version of this product... I went for it (KX-TG4022N). I like the fact that it has a somewhat higher antenna power output -- so it may have a bit more range -- but I was disappointed to find no headset jack, a very handy convenience for hands-free operation.

Another difference between this model and the prior one that I own is that it has no intercom button, so you have to go thru the menu to get to the intercom function. I have not perused all of the features of these phones (I'm kinda busy with other stuff in life) but I can say that the speakerphone function works well in both old and new models.

Can't comment on the voicemail function. When my current voicemail gizmo fails, this will be my backup.

The ordering and delivery were problem-free.

The review about this product

Do You Believe in Magic?: The Sense and Nonsense of Alternative Medicine (Hardcover) This was an extremely well written and researched book on choices confronting consumers in deciding on solutions to health issues. The author however seems to favor more FDA control over alternative medicine (Vitamins, herbs, etc.) feeling the public is often fleeced by buying untested or unproven products.

To be fair, he should have covered the negatives of FDA approval more such as the tendency to promote crony capitalism for the large drug companies and the Big Brother authoritarian power of deciding what choices consumers should have. Often lifesaving drugs are withheld from market due to risks that individuals might be willing to take. Other times dangerous drugs with dangerous side affects are approved that individuals take blindly due to FDA approval. There is risk in all products, food, drink, tobacco, transportation, energy, etc. Fact is consumers should be free to make their own choices as each individual's risk / reward and valuation preferences defer widely and there is not a set Yes or No for everyone. The FDA can easily publish research or make recommendations for those interested, but individual health care choices should best be left to individuals. It is a long slippery slope to leave individual choices up to Government control in the name of "regulation".

Bogged Down With Detail

The review about this product

Although this very short novella was bogged down with the typical of Hamilton, minutia, this was eventually a very cute story. I do think that Ms Hamilton writes these stories about the everyday lives of her characters, to mimic what may be going on with her own life.

Micah, Nathaniel and Anita are invited to a picnic given by long time friend and partner Zerbrowski and his wife Katie. The trio is babysitting Matthew and the story ends with a dance that shows how little boys can be ballet dancers without being 'gay'. Anita also finds herself in an uncomfortable situation that pits Nathaniel against another party goer who has been to one of the parties in which Nathaniel pulled a 'Full Monty'. There is more to the story but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

What I will say is that Ms Hamilton again ruins a perfectly good story with the over detailing of Anita's lovers hair, eyes, bodies and back-stories. It is an annoying habit at best. One could almost make an argument that she (the author) does it to pad the word count so you don't feel cheated by paying three dollars for less than 60 pages.

The review about this product

This cordless phone is top-rated in the October 2010 issue of Consumer Reports and after comparing it to a VTech wireless 6.0 phone that I recently purchased (and later returned) I can see why. It has large numbers on the display...a great feature for we seniors. It has a economy mode that powers down the phone until you walk up to it...and it then it beeps and turns the power on. It has lighted buttons at night...a great feature in my dimmly lit room. And, it is very clear and crisp when transmitting calls. My only issues is that sometimes the caller's voice fads out for afew moments but the VTech had the same problem so I think it's a directional thing within the walls of my home. You can buy the cheaper VTech or Uniden phones but for the few dollars extra I think the Panasonic is unmatched for both quality and features.

Reviews About Plantronics 18straight Cable - Quick Disconnect To 2.5 Mm Plug (Personal Computers)

%product_name

Its a review about this product

I recently found that this Ooma hd2 phone supported 2.5mm headset connections so I did not have to rely on bluetooth. While I looked into getting a 2.5mm I remembered that one of my headsets from the office required a quick disconnect so I figured I might as well get one in case I lose the one that comes with the device. Actually all the higher quality wired headsets I bought did not include a quick disconnect so I did need to buy the Plantronics 18straight Cable...

The Plantronics quick disconnect cable here works very good for the 2 headsets I tried using it on when I had been trying to determine what I want to use. I tried calling my cellphone before I started using the headset via my Ooma phone & it sounded better than bluetooth (maybe a half second delay between my speaking into the headset and then receiving the audio in my cellphone). During conference calls & individual calls people did not know I was using a headset.

BUT the only thing I found wrong, if you want to call it incorrect, was that Plantronics brand & its quick disconnect port was slightly different than the Jabra. This did not fit the Jabra headset's quick disconnect.

I purchased onesimard sim directly from onesimcard.com two months ago. A friend of mine told me about this product. Since then I was traveling in many places around the world and this service worked everywhere just fine. It took me few minutes to understand that they use a callback technology. But once I understood how to dial it was not any different from my AT&T service except for the cost part. You really save with this service when calling from abroad using your mobile phone. I traveled four - five times a year internationally. I just wish I knew about onesimcard before. The savings that I realized just in these two months are already over $2500. Also I liked their customer service: Very knowledgeable and ready to help. Strongly recommend.

This is not the type of book to read all the way through- though I do recommend reading through the first chapter and referencing the rest of the chapters when you need them. One of the best idea books I've come across- it is a great resource for instructional designers that develop and train others to develop (however, it can also be useful to teachers that develop their own courses). Great illustrations.

There are a variety of examples in the book for the use of these activities- they can be used for developing informative sites, courses, consulting training exercises, etc. I like how the author breaks down the different types of activities- absorbing, connecting, and doing activities- flexible enough for a learning management system, Web site, or other training program.

My one comment is that the book seems a bit out of order- possibly the activities should go after the lessons chapter, which is why I came to the conclusion that it is best to use this as a reference.
